Back to Work... :(

Well it was back to work this week for me. Bummer. SO sad that I had to come back, but happy to have my career, which I do like...thank goodness! It was difficult to leave Gavin, but I know I am working for him and his future, so that helps. I was a big girl and didn't cry. I appreciate all of the time that I had off work...19 weeks total (paid). I could have taken a month more of the FMLA, but it was unpaid time so we decided that it was better to go back to work. And the best part about it was that when we got out taxes done, we didn't even have to claim or pay taxes on the disability pay! And we also got the $1,000 child tax credit for having Gavin! I think we actually made money by having a baby this year!

So I am pumping at work, twice a day, and it is the biggest pain in the butt ever! I spend both of my breaks pumping away. They have a "pumping room" at my work, but there are 5 women using it right now, so we have to schedule times to use the room and make sure we are prompt. This is very hard to do with my position since I have tons of meetings that go late and are planned at random times. I am doing good so far, but geez. I wanted to pump while I am driving to and from work (I have the car lighter electric plug and a hands free pump bra), but I haven't tried it yet. It would save time though, for sure!

Happy VAL Day!!!

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! Ours was great. We spent the day together and made sure to take a picture of Gavin's first Val day. For dinner we decided instead of fighting the crowds at a restaurant, we would make dinner together. We made Chicken Parmesan with ceaser salad. It was yummy! And Gavin was just sleeping in his swing the whole time! We decided not to get traditional gifts, just cards, although Grier did bring home a bottle of wine. And he filled up my car with gas, which was nice. I guess that is more practical than a bouquet of flowers that will die in a week, ha ha!

Well I am enjoying my last week home with Gavin, as it is back to work on Monday. Bummer! Although I have been off work since early october and getting paid the whole time, so I am VERY grateful for that!!! I will miss not seeing Gavin as much, but my career is important to me too and I know I am doing what is best for my family! And we all need health benefits, so it's back to work I go! Hopefully I can remember how to be a financial analyst , since all I have been thinking about has been how to be a mommy. Wish me luck!

Gavin found his hands this week!

It is so crazy how fast he grows, changes and learns! He is now grabbing for things and holding onto them. Also, grabbing toys and trying to bring them to his mouth! Uh oh, germs here we come! He also keeps trying to sit up from a reclined position.

The play mat with hanging toys is amazing! It has entertained him for hours and is really great for his development!

Our first date night...after baby

Grier and I went out last night for the whole night, the first whole night out since Gavin was born. We dropped him off at my parents house. Then went to the ducks hockey game and got to go ice skating on the rink after the game. It was a great game, went into overtime, then a shoot out, then the ducks finally won :)

Adjusting to motherhood- 3 months old

Some people say that having a baby and becoming a mother is so difficult. In my opinion, they are just trying to scare you! If you are ready and responsible, it is an amazing experience. Yes, there were some things to get used to, like broken up sleep and changing tons of diapers. But, definitely the best experience of my life. It makes me feel so important and needed, as this little human life depends on us so much. It is so amazing that we created him!

I seriously can't believe how quickly the weeks have gone by since he was born! He just turned 3 months old! Wow! And he is getting so big! He weighs about 14 pounds now and is such a healthy eater! All he gets is breast milk, and he is still a little piggy, eating until his belly sticks out like a big round balloon!

At 3 months Gavin is:
Sitting up (with help) leaning against the couch or in the Bumbo
Smiling tons and loves playing peek-a-boo
Just starting to laugh...well more of a little chuckle occasionally
Batting at his toys on his play mat
And loving his swing (of course!)

Gavin -1 Week Old

My brother, Justin, has a professional camera and is really great at photography. He took Gavin's 1 week old photos and they came out great!

Welcome Baby Gavin! 11/3/11

Gavin was born on 11/3/11 at 3:37 pm. A HEALTHY and HAPPY baby boy! We truly are soo blessed and so appreciative for what we have in life. I couldn't have asked for a better delivery experience. My husband and my mom were both in the room and both helped "coach" the baby out. It only took 30 minutes of pushing and he was big, 8 lbs. 12.7 oz., so my coaches must have done a great job!

Our Wedding ~Feb. 28th, 2010

This is a "catch up" post about our wedding in 2010. After about 5 years together, Grier and I decided to get married on a Cruise ship, so we could trade a 1 day wedding for 7 strait days of fun (Carnival Mexican Riviera cruise)! It was amazing! About 40 of our closest family and friends were able to join us on the cruise. Every where we went on the ship, we saw people from our group: at the pool, at the club, at the restaurants and bars, on the excursions off the ship...it was awesome. Yes, you may say that we spent our "honeymoon" with 40 other people, but we wouldn't have had it any other way! It really was the best times of our lives! We can't wait to go on another cruise someday!!!

Starting my blog

Well here I am, starting my own blog! How exciting :)  I decided that I wanted to start a blog to capture memories and pictures and also to stay connected with friends and family. Every day is always so busy, so I want to make sure that I stop to reflect occasionally. I want to capture moments in time and be able to look back and reminisce. I truly am amazed with how quickly time flies! It seems that the older I get, the faster it goes!!!
